Anamaria Marina is an Romanian actor. She won the British Academy Television Award Best actress for her role in the Channel 4 film Sex Traffic. The actress speaks French, German, English and Romanian proficiently. Her mother played the violin and her father is a theatre professor at one of Romania's top drama schools. The Mangalia Gala, which is a celebration of Young Actors in 2000, she took home the Best Female Actor Award 2000. In 2008 the European Film Promotion Board recognized her as a European Shooting Star. The film won two awards at Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize from the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). Additionally, she was a part in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. The role she played was Yasim Awar on BBC's five-episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca played the role of Yasim Anwar as part of Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven, in addition to the Romanian Drama Boogie.
