Salma Hayek made her Hollywood debut in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. Her Oscar-nominated performance in Frida was the next major leap. Salma Hayek Jimenez, daughter of Spanish and Lebanese parents was born in Mexico on the 2nd of September 1996 in Coatzacoalcos. Hayek grew up in a Catholic wealthy, well-off family. At the age of 12, Hayek went to a convent-like school located in Louisiana. After that, she relocated together with her aunt in Houston, Texas.
